Volunteers Needed for Fall Harvest Festival Oct 26 5-8pm
Every year hundreds of folks from our community come to Liberty's Fall Harvest Festival. This is a great way to serve our neighbors and minister the great grace that we've been shown in Christ. We're stepping it up this year and including another moonbounce (fingers crossed) a costume contest/parade, weenie roast and s'mores at the bonfire, and a teen hangout in the block house. We're doing all this in addition to our usual games and candy in the gym. So we need your help.
I'm looking for groups of two or three to run a game or activity all night. Here's what I still need volunteers for: (come in costume if you like)
Football Throw game, Bowling, Ball Pool, Lollipop Tree, Pumpkin Painting, Candy Distributors, Moon Bounce bouncers, Evangelists, Costume Contest judges, Bonfire chefs, Block House Hosts.
So far Caleb T. and Micah C. are signed up to run the Hockey game, Nathaniel D. on bowling, Kaiah and Kylie on pin the pumpkin, Dan H. and Caleb C. on whack-a-mole.
I also need your help publicizing this, telling friends and Liberty Christian School alumni, and responding to our facebook event.
Finally, I need your help praying that this event would be a place where we could share the love of Christ with our neighbors.
Scripture readings for 2012-2013
"So faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of Christ." Romans 10:17
If you want to grow in holiness, to grow in love for God, to overcome sin, to gain wisdom, to know God's great love for you, you will read your Bible. To encourage you in that work we assign the following readings to coincide with your studies in Sunday school.
Middle schoolers: read a half chapter a day five days a week from Acts and various letters
High schoolers: read a chapter a day five days a week from the Pentateuch (until we get to Deuteronomy then 6 days a week)

Back to School? Let's celebrate with a cookout this Sunday night at the church.

Ladies: bring a dessert or drink to share
Guys: bring a side or chips to share.
(big families: just bring whatever you want =)
Middle and High School Students, you're invited to join us for our kickoff of the fall youth group season. We'll be meeting every other Sunday night from 7-8:30pm to hang out, worship, pray, and snack. We be playing Gaga, football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, darts, foosball, and wii. We'll be discussing whether there is a God and reasons for belief in Him. (If you've been convinced for awhile these sessions will help train you in how to talk to others who don't believe. It's also a great place to bring friends and neighbors who don't already believe.) We'll be using Lee Stroebel's "Case for Faith" and "Case for a Creator" to help answer the big questions.
So we'll provide the hotdogs, buns, paper goods, and condiments. Come at 6pm. Get picked up at 8:30pm.
Ladies: bring a dessert or drink to share

And of course, everybody...bring a friend!

Updated youth group time and cancelled event
Summer youth group is 7-9pm most Thursday nights. Refer to the google calendar at the bottom of the page for specific dates.
Due to low interest we will not be having a trip to Adventure Park USA. The Hancocks however have graciously opened up their home and pool to us. So on Wednesday June 13th from 8am to 12 noon we'll have swimming and game playing at the Hancocks. I know 8am is early for a summer morning it's just that some of us like to play games that take a long time to play. Come when you wake up and bring your bathing suit. If you need a ride, contact Nick. 443-two eight six- 5886.

We will be talking about the summer schedule and strategy. There will be time for discussion and prayer. Youth will have their final week of sunday school in their usual places.
Final F.I.S.H.: This Sunday 6-9pm make sure to come to the Hathaway's for our final FISH of the year (and perhaps for a long time.) Bring your journals and pens we still have more work to do in our evangelism training. We'll be having a cookout starting at 6pm. Please RSVP to Nick, 443-286-5886 so I know how many hotdogs to get. If you're coming please bring a side or dessert to share, we'll provide the hot dogs, buns, drinks and paper goods. Families are welcome. We'll go from 6-9pm. Our house is at 1630 Brimfield Circle Sykesville MD 21784.
Summer Family Sunday School: Beginning June 3rd Middle School, High School and families are welcome to attend our Summer Family Sunday school. This year we'll be meeting in the Block House. I know...we'll have to do a little rearranging. (The Adult Education Committee wants to try to reserve the Sanctuary for the Praise team. But we'll move into the Old Sanctuary if there's too many of us for the block building.)
We'll be studying the Ten Commandments. We'll take a look at the actual wording of each command, it's Old Testament Interpretation, it's New Testament Interpretation, the Westminster Catechism's Interpretation along with some discussion. If you'd like to prepare for June 3rd you can start by memorizing questions 39-44 in the Shorter Catechism.
Summer Youth Group: Thursday nights from 7-9pm. Those going into 6th grade all the way up to those graduating from High School are welcome to join us for our summer youth group happening on Tuesdays throughout the summer. We'll be playing and we'll be studying Media Ecology and memorizing verses about Communicating Christianly in an age of cellphones, internet, social media, and email. Verses will be forthcoming. You can prepare by taking a look at the churchs' policy on Christian Communication found on our website.
Leadership Training: Tuesday nights at 8pm at the Hathaways we'll be offering leadership training for those interested in helping out with youth ministry in the next year. It will be a time of prayer, fellowship, and bible study in the pursuit of Christian maturity. If you're interested please contact Nick at 443-286-5886.
Kids Club: Tuesday nights at 7pm in the middle of Brimfield circle the Hathaways and some friends will be hosting a Kids club for neighborhood youth. We'll play a game, sing a song or two, listen to a Bible lesson and have a snack. If you're interested in helping out or providing a snack one week please contact Nick. This would be a great way for those going on the Chattanooga trip to practice before going down to Chattanooga.
Chattanooga Team: Contact Becky Hancock for your assignments and responsibilities for the car wash. You're all responsible for writing a support letter and sending it out to friends and family in order to raise support for our mutual mission. If you need help with this, please contact Nick. Furthermore, you should begin strategizing for your different tasks: Sarah Smith, Ben Hancock plan music. Abby Blackburn, Nathan Goedeke, and Alex Vesotsky plan bible talks. Marissa Cote, Ben Cote, Carl Anderson plan 3 crafts. Josh Crone, Isaac Crone, Dalton Will get information and tools for work.

Baccalaureate and a Dam Walk
Please join us in congratulating our graduating high school seniors this Sunday after church. We will be having lunch in the fellowship hall immediately after worship so I could use some help setting up tables, chairs, and laying out plasticwear for our meal between sunday school and service this sunday. Please RSVP to the church office by friday with numbers for your family if you're planning on attending since we will be ordering sandwiches. Also, please bring a side or dessert to share.
If you are one of the graduates families, this is a reminder that I need you to gather 10-20 digital pictures of your graduate that I can turn into a slideshow. I will need them by early friday morning. If you need to scan pictures in, you can come into the church office to do so on friday morning. You will also need to prepare a brief word for your graduate. This might include some joking, some challenging, and some congratulating. The youth ministry will provide a gift for each graduate.
The night of Sunday the 20th, we'll be meeting at the Liberty Dam (drive all the way down to the dam itself) promptly at 7pm and walking back to church on the fire path through the woods. Bring a comfortable pair of sneakers. Call Nick at 443- two eight six- 5886 with any questions regarding the walk.
